Meet Dr. Pontikas

Dr. Aristidis Pontikas was born and raised in Texas City, Texas, where his parents, who are first-generation Greek immigrants, settled in 1970. Dr. Pontikas, who kept in touch with his cultural roots and is fluent in Greek, is the oldest of the three children and proud to be the first dentist and periodontist in the history of his family.

Dr. Pontikas, who kept in touch with his cultural roots and is fluent in Greek, is the oldest of the three children and proud to be the first dentist and periodontist in the history of his family.

Dr. Pontikas enjoys the challenge of periodontics and places his primary focus on meeting the individual needs of each patient. He is proud to offer his patients both surgical and non-surgical periodontal treatment, periodontal cosmetic surgery, soft tissue grafting, dental implants, and sinus augmentation. He strives to understand each patient’s desires, circumstances, and needs in order to offer the most effective and innovative treatment available.

Dr. Pontikas completed his dental degree at the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Dental Medicine in Pittsburgh, PA. He then completed his periodontal training, earning a certificate in periodontal surgery and a master’s degree in oral biology at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX.

In addition to maintaining his full-time private practice, Dr. Pontikas currently is serving as the director at the Arizona section of the Southwest Society of Periodontics. He is also a member of the Barrow’s Craniofacial team, working with a dedicated group of dental specialists and physicians to serve a population of patients born with craniofacial disorders. In order to stay current with the most recent periodontal, implant, and dental research, he is active in the Canadian-American Periodontal research group.

Dr. Pontikas and his wife, Debbie, are happy parents to their twin boys, George and Alex. Although both are native Texans, they have made the Valley of the Sun their home and enjoy all of what Arizona has to offer.
